How to create a VM using a Template

Once your virtual data center (vDC) is ready, it's time to get your cloud going by making some Virtual Machines. You can create these Virtual Machines (VMs) using the VMware Cloud Director Templates. Here's how to do it easily:

1. Login to VMware Cloud Director Tenant Portal using the following URL https://mycloud.bri.zettagrid.com/tenant/Org_cloudnumber. Your username and password is located at the My Account portal.

2. On the Virtual Data Center dashboard screen, click the card of the virtual data center you want to explore and from the left panel, select Virtual Machines.

3. Click New VM. Enter the name, the computer name, and optionally, a description for the virtual machine. Ensure that From Template is selected. If you want the VM to power on right after its creation, select the Power on check box.

4. Select a VM template from the list of available templates then specify a storage policy.

5. Lastly, select the Network where you want to connect your VM to, make sure that the Connected checkbox is checked, Select the appropriate IP Mode, then click OK. You can monitor your VM provisioning status by expanding Recent Tasks on the lower left.

You can see the card of the virtual machine in the catalog. Until the virtual machine is created, its state is displayed as Busy.
