CloudStack VDC : Resizing and Cancelling Your Subscription

CloudStack VDC : Resizing and Cancelling Your Subscription

Resizing and cancelling your subscription

All commercial operations on a CloudStack VDC - changing the resource pool, ending the subscription, or migrating between products - happen in MyAccount, not the Apache CloudStack portal.

Resizing a CloudStack VDC subscription

You can increase or decrease any of the resources on your subscription (CPU, RAM, primary or secondary storage, public IPs, backup storage, Windows licences) at any time. Changes apply on the next billing cycle (or pro-rated, depending on the change).

  1. Sign into MyAccount at account.zettagrid.com.

  1. Open your CloudStack VDC subscription from the subscriptions list.

  1. Click the Resize icon (circle with up and down arrows) in the subscription top menu.

  1. Adjust the resource values as required.

  1. Review the updated price and click Confirm.

Important

You cannot reduce a resource below the amount currently in use. For example, to reduce vCPU you must first power off or right-size enough instances in the Apache CloudStack portal so the in-use vCPU count is below the new target.

Cancelling a CloudStack VDC subscription

To cancel your subscription:

  1. In the CloudStack portal, delete all instances, volumes, snapshots, templates and guest networks inside the VPC.

  2. Return to MyAccount, open the subscription, and delete the VPC using the Manage IPs and Create VPCs dialog (see the Managing IPs and VPCs page).

  3. Open the subscription in MyAccount and click the bin (delete) icon in the subscription top menu.

  4. Confirm the cancellation. Billing stops at the end of the current billing period (or in accordance with your contract term).

Important

If you are on a 12-month or 36-month contract, early cancellation may attract an early termination charge. Check your contract or contact your account manager before cancelling.

Migrating between VMware VDC and CloudStack VDC

Zettagrid offers both VMware VDC and CloudStack VDC. They run on different hypervisor stacks, so workloads cannot move between them with a simple in-place change.

If you want to migrate a VM between VMware VDC and CloudStack VDC (in either direction), contact Zettagrid Support at support@zettagrid.com. The support team can advise on supported migration paths, image conversion and downtime.
