CloudStack VDC : Getting Started: Purchasing a Subscription
Purchasing a CloudStack VDC subscription
CloudStack VDC is purchased through MyAccount. You configure the resources you need, select a contract term, and submit the order. The subscription is provisioned automatically and becomes available in MyAccount within a few minutes.
Step 1. Open the CloudStack VDC catalogue page
Sign into MyAccount at account.zettagrid.com.
Navigate to Catalog → Compute → CloudStack VDC, or open the catalogue page directly at
Zettagrid Catalog .

Step 2. Configure the resources you need
On the catalogue page, set the following resource values. You can adjust any of these later from MyAccount (see the Resizing and Cancelling page).
vCPU - the number of virtual CPU cores available to your subscription.
RAM - the amount of memory (GB) available across all instances in the subscription.
Primary Storage - fast block storage used by running instances for their root and data disks.
Secondary Storage - storage used to hold your own ISOs, templates and instance snapshots.
Public IPs - routable IPv4 addresses. Two are included; add more if you need additional DNAT/inbound IPs.
Backup Storage - storage used for VM backups (optional).
Windows Licences - reserved Microsoft Windows licences. See the note on Windows below.
Important Secondary storage is required if you want to store your own ISOs, templates or instance snapshots. If you only intend to use Zettagrid’s public template catalogue, secondary storage is optional. |
Note Microsoft Windows virtual machines are automatically audited and charged in arrears based on actual usage if you have not purchased any licenses beforehand. Microsoft Windows licenses are charged at a high-water mark for the whole of the calendar month, irrespective of commencement date. |
Step 3. Choose a contract term
Pick the contract term that suits your commitment level. Longer terms attract a discount; the discount is applied automatically in MyAccount.
1 Month - no commitment.
12 Month
36 Month
Partner discounts, if applicable, are applied on top of the contract-term discount. If you are a Zettagrid partner, your discount appears in the Partner Discount section of the order summary.
Step 4. Submit the order
Review the resources and Order Summary on the right of the page.
Click Order (or Add to Cart, then check out) to submit.
The subscription provisions automatically. Once complete, it appears in MyAccount under your subscriptions list with a Status of Provisioned.
After provisioning: what happens next
When you open the new subscription for the first time you will see a yellow banner: “You must allocate IP addresses and create VPCs before building VMs.” This is expected - a fresh CloudStack VDC has no IPs assigned to a zone yet, and no VPC has been created.
