Overview

Veeam Insider Protection adds a "recycle bin" to your Veeam Backups (VCCB) where deleted backups are stored for a specified number of days to protect against accidental or malicious deletion of backups.

You must has one of the following subscriptions to take advantage of this feature:

Veeam Cloud Connect Backup (aka Veeam Backup)

Pricing

Insider Protection charges only for storage allocation. The minimum storage is 1TB. Additional storage is sold in 1TB blocks at Cool Archive Storage Rates.
The Zettagrid system automatically audits usage and increases allocated storage if you exceed your allocation.
Restorations are manual and incur a fee per restore job

Backup Restoration

The service protects against accidental or malicious deletion, so customers cannot restore data themselves. Contact support@zettagrid.com with the VCCB subscription to restore. Each restore job is manual and incurs a fee.

Ordering

You can purchase this service online via MyAccount. View your VCCB subscription in MyAccount, select “resize” from the Manage menu, and choose the retention days and Insider Protection storage amount. Insider Protection will activate and protect your backups within seconds.

Alternatively, order through your Account Manager or email support@zettagrid.com with your VCCB Subscription ID and required storage.

Can multiple VCCB subscriptions be protected by one Insider Protection service?

Insider Protection is an “Addon” for a VCCB service. As a result, you need to purchase Insider Protection for each of your VCCB subscriptions.

Can I purchase Insider Protection for only a select number of VCCB services?

Yes, if you have 3 VCCB services and only want to protect 1 service, you can enable Insider Protection for only that 1 VCCB service.

How can I estimate how much Insider Protection storage I require?

Zettagrid Partners can use the Partner Price Book - Veeam Insider Protection Estimation Calculator. Direct customers can contact their Account Manager or support@zettagrid.com

How do I disable insider protection?

If a Veeam Backup subscription has Insider Protection enabled, then we do not allow customers to disable Insider Protection, reduce the retention days, or cancel the Veeam Backup subscription automatically via the website. If this was allowed then it would allow an attacker to remove the protection provided by Insider Protection.

To disable, reduce retention or cancel, customers must contact Zettagrid Service Desk by phone or email to request the change. After verifying the request, Zettagrid staff will make the change.

MyAccount shows options and information under the manage menu and resize page explaining the process with options to email a request to service desk.
